Anova hired Wes in 2017 out of California for a Safety Manager position in Indianapolis, IN. He is currently working on the new $571 million Community Justice Campus Project as the Site Safety and Security Manager for the next four years.
I retired three years ago after serving 23 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Motor Transport Maintenance Officer (Chief Warrant Officer 3). I spent 18 years working in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) roles during this period in General Industry and Construction, so when I retired I chose safety as my second career. I have a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health; I am an OSHA Outreach Trainer in General Industry and Construction Safety and hold three credentials with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CET, CHST, and STS). I’m married (almost 24 years) to my saint of a wife Barbara, and we have three kids, Joshua, Katherine, and Daelynn.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
What I enjoy most about my role is the ability to effect positive change for the benefit of others. The ultimate goal of safety isn’t just to enforce regulations or keep people safe but to make people better at what they do because they do it safely.
you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my family watching movies or playing games.
Top three life highlights?
1. Graduating Marine Corps Boot Camp. Nothing can describe the feeling of becoming a Marine.
2. Marrying my wife, Barbara. The best decision of my life and I wouldn’t have made it this far without her.
3. We’ll have to wait and see. It’s not over yet.
