Mat is a Ferris State University graduate with more than 31 years of construction experience in design, construction, and overall project delivery across a variety of market sectors and different contract delivery methods. Mat joined Anova in 2017 and has operated in a variety of roles based on our company needs.
Currently, Mat is working on the Anova project team in Midland, MI on Project Galileo for Dow Chemical. His responsibilities on this and other projects have included overall project team facilitation, project planning, design management, pre-construction services, competitive bid estimating, project scheduling, field supervision, quality control, and day-to-day project management.
Some of his key projects include the Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA; Grand Rapids Convention Center in Grand Rapids, MI; Van Andel Institute Phase 2 Expansion in Grand Rapids, MI; Private Resort in British Virgin Islands; Dow Chemical’s Customer Innovation Center in Midland, MI and IU Health Regional Academic Health Center in Bloomington, IN.
Mat excels at developing teams for the owner to design and build complex projects. He is passionate about ensuring the client’s intent and desires are met for the end users’ needs all while keeping the project in budget and on schedule. His favorite projects involve the opportunity to help clients fulfil their need and provide the expertise to complete complex projects. For Mat, it is all about ensuring the right balance of form and functionality to meet the Owners needs and requirements.
When Mat isn’t working, he enjoys playing golf, watching sports, traveling, working on remodeling projects, and volunteering. He has been a Board Member with Junior Achievement West Michigan and a Foundation Board Member with Holland Home and Faith hospice. Mat has been married for 30 years to his High School sweetheart Jennifer.
