Dow Chemical XPS Facility

Dow Chemical XPS

Project Overview

Anova was the Owner’s Technical Representative for the Burley, ID, XPS facility. The new Dow Chemical facility was built to house a relocated manufacturing assembly line that was taken out of service and transported to Burley, ID, from La Port, TX. The facility manufactures expanded polystyrene sheeting.

The general contractor built the new 66,000 SF warehouse, parking lot and storage lot, silo farm, and security building on a 30-acre greenfield site. Anova managed the site EH&S as well as the owner furnished equipment procurement and installation schedule.

“The staff at Anova were all very professional and provided quality support. Anytime we asked for additional assistance, Anova was there to help. When I needed additional resources to maintain the schedule, all I did was place a call, and more resources appeared. I couldn’t have asked for more!”  -Kimberly Caudill, Global Business EH&S Improvement Leader Dow Building and Construction

Creative Solutions

While Anova had worked with Dow Chemical on previous projects, this was the first project Anova completed for their Building Solutions Department, one of Dow’s global business units. However, because of our familiarity and existing experience with Dow’s corporate policies and procedures we were able to establish a trusted relationship quickly. Establishing confidence with Dow was extremely helpful especially since the project was at a remote location and we had to work with a project team comprised of contractors who were unfamiliar with Dow’s processes and procedures.

To educate incoming contractors, Anova created an orientation video and training program with a focused strategy to familiarize new personnel with Dow guidelines. As a result, the project was completed on schedule and delivered with more than 150,000 manhours, with zero recordable injuries – an important client metric.
